Day 6: The Last Steps

We packed our stuff being aware of this was the last day of our journey. We were trying to reach to Salamanca by asking questions like who we are, where we are and where we are heading. We all knew that we would feel strange and confused as soon as the voice of civilization meets us. We prepared ourselves thinking about our place in the earth and civilization by using the bridges, we passed through Salamanca, as phases of time. We were glad to complete our quest in the nature and ready for the next experience. We would be the cool breeze of the earth, carrying her wisdom.

Meeting the Mayor

It was a stark contrast to the rural villages and wide open plains that we had become accustomed to as we entered the red city of Salamanca.  Here is the poem that 6 participants read at the welcome event hosted by the mayor of Salamanca.  (written in about 20 min)

31 people from different countries
with different cultures
started a journey
to come closer together
Breaking walls and building bridges
walking the road of history and silence
listening, observing, feeling

And every day has its own adventure
to help, to walk, to see, to know.
Knowing that you are one unimportant part of the earth
which is all you can have.

Everytime I take the backpack, I leave myself behind,
It’s not about what I get to carry, but all the things I left behind.
Freedom is my reward, community it’s my place,
Joy it’s my true essence.

We were walking surrounded by the golden grass,
stepping on the ancient stones under never ending blue sky.
Full with white cottony clouds.
We discover ourselves and the nature around us with every step.

We came to the red walls of Salamanca,
to bring the sand on our shoes.
From mountains, rivers, forests, fields.
